Marble Mountain Ranch is a family owned guest ranch that has it’s roots in the California Gold Rush. Originally the ranch was a gold mining claim followed by seasons as a homestead ranch, and other recreational uses during periods of ownership spanned by only four separate families. We are entirely off the power grid and produce all our own electricity, domestic water and other municipal services. Our employees find fulfillment not only in serving the public in a Western Dude Ranch setting, but by being a part of a uniquely self sufficient micro-community. The staff team is linked in a family setting and enjoys a tight sense of camaraderie and “spirit de corps.” We maintain a high set of ranch employee standards. Job opportunities here are seldom restricted to single-focus tasks, but require the “wearing of multiple hats” as our duties evolve during the course of a day. Since we operate in a very remote setting, our job compensation also includes provisions for lodging on the ranch and meals with our guests. We seat all of our staff and family with our guests during meals to promote bonding between staff and guests. Our prime season runs from early June to late August.
River Guide Jobs
Minimum age requirement is 18 years and all guiding staff must come with current first-aid and C.P.R. cards. Class B drivers licenses, wilderness responder cards, swift water rescue certification, and other outfitting or dude ranch relevant experience will give you hiring preferences. We have a zero tolerance for job-site drug and alcohol use by staff. This zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use is an essential part of our risk management program and protects you as well as our guests and other staff.
Housekeeping and Assistant Cook Jobs
Clean cabins, assist in the gardens, work under the head cook preparing three meals a day for up to 35 guests and 10 staff, and assist with meal clean-up. Opportunities for riding, rafting, and other ranch activity participation are also available.
We present an upscale dining experience and provide a great learning opportunity for those interested in pursuing a career in food service. — Dedication, flexibility, and desire are essential.
Ranch maintenance with guiding or wrangling jobs
Our wrangling and river guiding staff have job descriptions that we mold to fit the skills and abilities of the guide. A river guide will load rafts and operate afternoon rafting and kayaking trips, and will be assigned other morning duties related to the trap house, photography, logistics or to maintenance. River guides must have completed our whitewater guide school, or come with previous river guide experience.
Dude Ranch Wranglers
Wranglers will lead guests on morning trail rides, teach riding lessons, choreograph arena events, train young horses and maintain tack. Other work opportunities are available for the afternoons, such as pasture maintenance, as well as the opportunity to take part in the rafting/fishing with guests. Good communication skills and a strong work ethic are crucial to all jobs on the ranch. Previous experience with horses and/or white water rafting is required for guiding/wrangling positions.
Equal Opportunity – Marble Mountain Ranch is an equal opportunity employer operating under permit from the U.S. Forest Service and the California Dept. of Fish and Game. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, gender, religion, age, disability, political beliefs, sexual orientation or marital / family status. We are licensed, bonded and insured and have been in the guiding industry since 1968.
DRESSING THE PART – We are first and foremost a Western Dude Ranch. Our guests come from around the globe to experience an authentic taste of the American West. We require all of our staff to dress and present themselves in Western attire except when guiding on the river or when working in behind the scenes job duties.
